Chemistry Christmas Tree
We love sneaking some Science into everything around here!
Kids just love experiments and they dont even realize they are learning!
Next, you are going to make a moldable baking soda mixture.
Next is optional, but extra pretty and fun!
Add in glitter, sequins, and any other items you want to decorate your trees.
Now pack the baking soda mixture into your cone mold.
Freeze for a few hours or make the day before!
The more frozen they are, the longer it will take to melt the fizzy trees!
Now remove the wrapper or mold to reveal your pretty trees.
Its time for the fun part melting your baking soda Christmas trees.
Pour or squirt the green mixture over the top of your cone shaped Christmas tree.
Ask the kids toobserve what happened.
The baking soda is a base and the vinegar is an acid.
When you combine the two, you produce a gas called carbon dioxide.
you’re free to see, hear, feel, and smell the chemical reaction!
Do your young children really need to know the science terms?
We dont think so!
The point is to keep the curious, interested, and eager to learn new things!
For now, just help them learn that science is all around us andSCIENCE IS FUN!
