Ear project for school
Weve been learning about thesensesthis week at our house.
Its been funexperimenting with and testingour own senses.
Ears are uniquely designed to collect vibrations in the air.
These vibrations are calledsound waves.
It is these waves that create the sounds we hear.
Our ears funnel sound waves through theear canalto theeardrum.
The eardrum is a thin piece of skin that is stretched tight like a drum.
The brain determines what the sound is.
Fill the small bowl 2/3 full or so with water.
Human ear model project
Now, you have created your model ear.
Bang on your large plastic bowl, box, or drum with a wooden spoon.
While you are making the noise, watch the water in the bowl.
The sound should vibrate the balloon causing the straw taped to is to move.
This tiny movement can be seen by ripples in the water.
