Coin toss probability
The firstprobability for kids gameis a fun, simplecoin probabilityactivity.
Grab a coin any coin will do.
Children will learn about dependent and independent variables.
When you toss a coin it doesnt matter what the results are from the previous toss.
So a coin toss is in independent variable.
The impact of removing one changes the results of the next draw that is a dependent variable.
Children will try with a small sample size of 12 tosses and a larger number of 30.
They will learn how to make fractions from data and figure out the percent.
THey will also explore depenedent and independent variables!
HINT: There are 2 level choices for this activity.
Probability game
This final activity was the kids favorite.
You need a package of skittles and the worksheet.
WE used a share size because thats what I could find at the store.
Now draw more to get a larger sample (see worksheet page for numbers).
Finally sort and count all the colors in the bag and record on the far right TOTAL column.
Take the numbe drawn and divide it by the total number in your bag.
Researchers use graphs to analyze data.
Which color did your bag have more of.
you could have older students practice some math by figureing out the mode, mean, and medium.
